Gather 2 Grow-a Great Library Partnership

Dearest Voracious Readers,

Did you know that in addition to coming to the library to get ALL THE BOOKS the kiddos can also get a free lunch?  This is thanks to our new partnership with Feeding America West Michigan's Gather 2 Grow Program.  This year MADL has 3 libraries participating!  You can come to the library to enjoy story hour at Norton Shores on Tuesdays and the kids can get free lunch. Or visit Laketon Township or Muskegon Heights on their designated days.  Here is the schedule:

Muskegon Area District Library – Muskegon Heights

For many parents, the sudden loss of school meals means a bigger grocery expense—on top of other costs summer brings, like childcare. Gather 2 Grow aims to fill this gap, helping ensure no kids go without lunch in the summer. Available to all youth through age 18 and any adult with disabilities through age 26, the lunches include simple snack items like applesauce, meat and cheese sticks, crackers, nut butter and dried fruit. Kids also get a refillable water bottle to keep.

Next year we hope to include more branches.  This is just one of the many ways Muskegon Area District Library is leveraging partnerships with community organizations to serve our patrons.
