Are you a garage tinkerer? Perhaps you believe in savings hundreds (or thousands) of dollars by doing your own car repairs or lawnmower maintenance. YouTube can be a fantastic resource, but maybe you find yourself having to do critical work where you need the RIGHT answer, not a mix of answers and opinions from old message board posts or videos. Maybe you've tried asking an AI chatbot, and who knows if the answer you're getting is truly the right one?
I myself have been there. I've fixed non-running snowblowers, lawn mowers, trimmers, and performed critical work on my cars, where "permanent" engine damage will result with the wrong adjustment. I've had to trawl the internet to either subscribe to expensive online repair manual access, and also have had to buy used copies of printed manuals.
Your library card, however, gets you access to professional level service and repair manuals. You can log in to the Michigan eLibrary with your library card (mel.org), and access the Auto Repair Source as well as the Small Engine Resource. The first focuses on cars and other road going, four wheeled vehicles, while the second is for small engines and vehicles such as generators, lawn tractors, motorcycles, and snowmobiles. I've used them personally and found them to be accurate, easy to navigate, and most importantly, FREE. Explore the various online resources that MADL offers at madl.org/lean, and the resources of the Michigan eLibrary at mel.org. I've personally used Auto Repair Source in my own repairs and can vouch for its accuracy and ease of use!
