Hey everyone, welcome to the Muskegon Township Branch Library, part of the Muskegon Area District Libraries, aka MADL. You might not have noticed us since we are set between J’s Burger and Wings and Mr. B’s Pancake’s on Apple Ave and that distracts a lot of people. We now have a full window display shade, so look for the dark blue window and the acronym MADL if you are ever grabbing something to eat or are just close by.
You may be asking yourself why I should stop at this library… well, one of the first thing that comes to my mind is dragons. Well, a book wyrm which I’m sure everyone knows is basically a serpentine dragon! His name is Chaucer, named after his favorite author, and he likes to pretend to be a paper statue, so you may want to say hi when you stop in.
The next thing that the Township branch does that you may want to check out is our crafts. Here, we like to try and feed the inner artist. So, we focus on crafts and craft programs. Inside the library we have a craft shelf that anyone can use that has supplies for anything from bracelet making, crocheting, and knitting, to kids’ crafting supplies. We even have a new addition: Watercolors! We have a very popular crafting club that meets on Friday afternoons where you can use library supplies or bring your own craft supplies and chat with fellow crafters.
For the family, in our kid’s area, we have a bunch of things they can do. We have Duplo blocks, puzzles, soft toys, and a sensory bin. On top of our great book and movie collections we have Library of Thing playsets that you can check out.
Everyone else, don’t worry, we still provide regular library services like books, magazines, movies, video games and access to our Library of Things. Some of the things that make our collections unique is that while we do have a little bit of all genres like fantasy, literary, romance sci-fi we do have a prominent collection of mystery, suspense, and thriller books along with a respectable large print book collection.
We hope to see hope to see everyone soon,
Jonathan & Katie
