March is Women’s History Month—a time to honor the trailblazers, innovators, creators, and everyday heroes whose contributions have shaped our world. At the library, we believe stories have power. And this month, we’re celebrating the women whose stories have inspired generations…and the ones still being written right here in Muskegon.
All month long, we’re hosting a lineup of fun, thoughtful, surprising, and empowering programs for all ages. Whether you love music, science, crafts, history, or great conversation, there’s something for you. Here’s what’s happening:
🎵 Bingo, But Make It Women’s History
We’re bringing a whole series of music‑ and history‑themed Bingo nights celebrating iconic women across genres:
- Women in Muskegon History Bingo
- R&B Women Bingo
- Women of Gospel Music Bingo
- Queen of Soul Music Bingo
Bring friends and get ready for a little friendly competition mixed with plenty of great music and fascinating stories.
🔭 Women in Astronomy
From Caroline Herschel to Dr. Mae Jemison, women have been pushing the boundaries of the universe for centuries—sometimes quite literally. Join us for an inspiring look at the women who have shaped our understanding of space and continue to lead the way in exploration and discovery.
🫖 American Girl Tea Parties
Dress up, sip something sweet, and step into history! Several of our library branches are hosting American Girl Tea Parties, full of crafts, stories, and a celebration of the historical characters young readers love.
🔥 Fire Femme Foods
Get ready to snack and learn! This tasty program highlights women‑created snacks, treats, and foodie favorites—along with the stories of the women behind the brands.
🎤 K‑Pop Queens
K‑pop fans, assemble! Celebrate the fearless, talented, powerhouse women of K‑pop with an afternoon of dance, music, crafts, and community. Whether you're a longtime fan or brand‑new to the fandom, this one is pure joy.
🌡️ Hot Damn, It’s Menopause
Yes, we said it—out loud. Join a local doctor for an honest, supportive, and empowering conversation about menopause. Let’s clear up the confusion, ditch the stigma, and talk openly about what women experience.
📚 Women’s History, Michigan Edition
We’re diving into the stories of women who left their mark right here in our state and community:
- Inside the Mind of Michigan’s Most Lethal Women

From infamous to inspirational, these programs shine a light on Michigan women who made history in unforgettable ways.
🛍️ Women‑Owned Business Saturday
We’re closing out the month by uplifting the innovators and entrepreneurs in our own backyard. Stop in to meet and support women‑owned businesses from around the area—and discover your new favorite local maker or shop.
