Olympic Inspirations

Watching the 2026 Winter Olympics and feeling inspired? Mesmerized by the speed, agility, grit, and athletic prowess? Awed by the fashion, human capabilities, connections, and Italian scenery? Waiting to see what Snoop Dogg will get up to next?

It's fun to ponder and talk about your Winter Olympic sport, and the why behind it.

Here's what some of our branch staff are saying:

Rachel, at Dalton:  Curling, cause it's curling! Hurling a stone down the ice, only northerners get it.

Ty, at Montague: This is a tough one! I really enjoy watching bobsledding, and I respect the discipline required for the biathlon. My favorite event, however, is alpine skiing. Especially the slalom. As someone who enjoys downhill skiing, it's hard not to recognize the insane levels of skill and bravery the athletes have to have to take the mountain at high speeds while hitting all of their gates. It commands a great deal of respect from me, and it's fun to watch and experience a little bit of the adrenaline vicariously.

Julie, at Holton: Figure Skating!  So graceful, hours of practice skaters put in to get where they are.

Whatever your Olympic why check out some of MADL's books and DVDs about the Olympics, your winter sport, or even Snoop at www.madl.org.

Go for the gold!
