Every branch (and the Bookmobile) of Muskegon Area District Library is cool, and I may be partial since my district includes the North Muskegon Branch, but this branch has some extra-cool stuff.
One cool thing we have is our own Seed Library. Patrons (no library card required) can "check out" up to five packets of seeds per day. Our collection includes seeds for flowers, herbs, fruits, and vegetables. While not required, if you're able to, we'd love to receive seeds back at the end of the season to keep our collection growing. Find more information here: https://madl.org/seed-library/

A cool piece of technology we have is a Bambu Lab X1 carbon 3D Printer. Capable of printing items approximately 10 inches in any dimension, we feature programs using it every month for children or for all ages. We are also able to print items for you, requesting a donation for the charge of the plastic filament used. We've printed items ranging from fidget spinners to radio control airplane parts. I actually printed a part to fix the latch of my lunch cooler today.

Blending nature and technology, perhaps our coolest thing is a Tower Garden aeroponic growing tower. Using a pump on a timer, plants receive water with a natural nutrient blend and grow without soil. Also on a timer, LED grow lights come on during closed hours (if you've driven by at night you may have noticed these lights on!). Despite simulating the sun, these lights use less energy than a smartphone charger. We've grown marigolds, catnip (ask us to take some home for your feline friends), herbs, and are always trying to grow more things in it. Ask us what's growing next time you stop in. Our tower highlights are Seed Library (most of our plants have been started from seeds from the Seed Library) and our gardening programs this spring and summer. Watch our calendar and newsletter for those programs.
