Where will your library card and the Michigan Activity Pass take you?

Sure, those of us in libraries like to think of library cards as magical tickets to fascinating, faraway places. Both fiction and nonfiction, ranging from board books for toddlers to literary fiction for adults. The Magic Tree House series by Mary Pope Osborn can bring children to prehistoric times just as well as Andy Weir's Project Hail Mary can bring adults to distant stars.

Alright, you probably get the idea. There's lots of books, and a library card gives access to lots of books. You're probably thinking "Yeah yeah, libraries, books, journeys, I get it, old news, seems like something a librarian would say" But did you know, your library card can actually get you into places?

This magic is via the Michigan Activity Pass. Partnering with parks, museums, and other nonprofits, your library card can get you free or reduced admission. Taking a look at their website http://miactivitypass.org, there are 38 attractions with a 50 mile radius of the Laketon Township Branch, where the Michigan Activity Pass is accepted. For example, the Activity Pass allows for one vehicle to enter Muskegon State Park for free. At the USS Silversides Submarine Museum, the Activity Pass allows for four, free, general admission tickets for self guided tours of the museum and submarine. If you'd like to travel north a little, the Activity Pass provides one free admission to the Heritage Museum of Newaygo County. If you'd like to go south, the Activity Pass will provide you $1 off admission to the Holland Museum.
