What’s Happening at Ravenna Branch this Month

Create quilt blocks inspired by the legendary Story Quilts of African American artist Harriet Powers. Though Powers stitched her quilts by hand and machine, we’ll take a no‑sew approach—using scissors, fabric, and glue to craft squares that each represent a personal story.

About Folk Art:
Folk art can be functional or decorative and is deeply rooted in the traditions and culture of its community. It is often made by artists who are self‑taught or who learned informally. Through folk art, we gain knowledge of world cultures, discover more about ourselves, and connect with people whose backgrounds differ from our own.
